Batang Ai By-Election

What I really want to talk about here is not that about BN is the best party neither do PKR. What I really want to do is, may be some of you may be thinking of what I say here. I also don’t want to talk about how bad or how good the party is. I just want everybody to think a while for what I say here. Since the majority of the voters are Iban, I will write on the perspective of an Iban. Yes I am a Malaysian as what PRK say. He even say please don’t talk about anyone’s right. 52 years we have been independence and where have an Iban been?

Every day when I read in the newspaper, blog and watch news in television, all this voter are asking for road and electricity facilities and so on. Yes, I know this is so important. But what about educational purpose? Primary School and Secondary School? Health care? Is that not important at all for you? Don’t you want your kids to be a better person one day? How many of us Iban have been become a Doctor, Professor, Lecturer, Lawyer, Engineer and so on? You still want your kids to be a slave in your own land for the rest of your generation?

Ok, when you ask for road. Make sure if there is a road next time, make sure to send your son to school. Make sure these facilities given to ensure your kids to have a proper education. Let’s say that now the reason for you could not send your kids to school because there is no proper road and by boat take you at least 2 hour and by road next time will cut short you journey. Now your kids could not study because there is no electricity. Yes I know how those feel. So when they provide you with electricity next time, make sure they study.

Ask for a good school in Batang Ai. An Iban also have the right to have a good education facility. Some student who came from rural place is an excellent student in their primary and secondary school. When they want to further their study, they don’t have any fund. Their parent could not support them. Then this student just could not do anything. No medium or anyone that can be approach to help them. And when you go to any political party and ask for fund they just gave you a few hundreds. This is far from enough for a 4 years course. Why don’t they provide us with biasiswa for the less fortunate? Urge those tycoons in Sarawak to raise a foundation to provide us money for a better education.

Some of this excellent student just forget their dream and continue what their parent does (rubber tapping, padi field and so on). Not that I look down on this people. I came from this kind of family in the older days. Even now my parents still have their own kebun lada as their weekend activities. I know how it feels to be a hard labour. I know how hard you have to work to own a small amount of money. My late grandfather always reminds me to study hard to have a better life. When you have a better education, then only you can change a lot of thing. No one can ever make fool out of us by taking our land or anything from us.

Why I really stress on education, its the only way that we can change. Let’s say like this, each end every of long house at least there is one doctor, one professor, one lawyer, one engineer and so on. This is what we really need. It’s not BN or PKR that can change our future. I am glad to born and raise by a family that always encourage me to study.

Tribute to my late grandfather(Bugik ak Adit) who put to rest by the Lord on the 13 of December 2008.
Always be love and miss by us.
